No awe, just shock over CT imaging charges in the Sunshine State

A Florida man who needed a CT scan after taking a spill spilled the beans to a local TV station after he saw the bill. The outstanding sum was close to $18,000.

“That’s bull; that really is,” music technician Roger Demaris told FOX 13 in Tampa. “It’s unjustifiable!”

Beyond the dramatic lead-in, the station does a nice job explaining why some medical bills are so much higher than others for the same procedure. In this case, worker’s comp had to do with the indigestion-inducing inflation.
