Nuance Communications has closed its acquisition of Focus Infomatics. The acquisition has been made to expand Nuance’s web-based speech recognition editing services and accelerates the company’s strategy to automate manual transcription in healthcare. Focus’ various technologies and services portfolio will be offered in conjunction with Nuance’s Dictaphone iChart web-based transcription to provide internet delivery of automated transcription as a service. This acquisition will also bring additional infrastructure and capacity to Nuance and its Dictaphone iChart Preferred Service Providers, the companies said.
