Nucletron debuts new tool for image-guided GYN brachytherapy
Nucletron and the General Hospital Vienna/Medical University of Vienna have developed Oncentra GYN, a tool for image-guided adaptive brachytherapy for cervical cancer.

Together with the Vienna Ring Applicator, Oncentra GYN combines the intracavitary and interstitial technique for tumors with unfavorable topography. Oncentra GYN is the only system that supports the GEC-ESTRO recommendations for gynecologic brachytherapy as well as clinical protocols, according to Columbia, Md.-based Nucletron.

Jos Lamers, CEO, Nucletron, said that Oncentra GYN, in combination with the Vienna Ring Applicator, sets a new standard for intracavitary and interstitial applications, allowing tumors to be irradiated while minimizing damage to healthy organs in the pelvic region.
