ONCHIT awards contract toward State Alliance for e-Health
The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices is creating a State Alliance for e-Health, an initiative to assist states in health-IT programs, according to a release. The State Alliance for e-Health was developed under a contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT). The alliance will be constructed to provide a forum through which governors and other policymakers can work together to identify inter- and intrastate-based health-IT policies and best practices. They also will explore solutions to programmatic and legal issues related to the exchange of health information. The State Alliance’s main objectives are to identify ways to resolve state-level health-IT issues; promote collaboration to improve efficiency and effectiveness of health-IT initiatives; and work to resolve privacy and security issues surrounding the use and disclosure of electronic health information.
