Oshkosh, Philips introduce Mobile 3.0T MRI trailer
Oshkosh Specialty Vehicles introduced the first mobile 3.0T MRI trailer in collaboration with Philips Medical Systems at RSNA 2006 in Chicago.

This newly designed Oshkosh SV trailer houses the Mobile 3.0T technology and is composed of the new Philips Achieva 3.0 X-series. The latest generation 3.0T system is lightweight and magnetically shielded to allow for transportation.  RF shielding is built into the unit and the stray field is comparable to the 1.5T mobile system.  Magnet innovations include a large 50 cm field of view and 4K zero boil-off technology.  The mobile 3.0T system will offer exactly the same functionality as fixed site systems; from whole body imaging to Spectroscopy, while providing versatility and cost-effectiveness allowing clinicians to use the system virtually anywhere. Key components of the vehicle include an all-aluminum, welded body structure, 17-inch, twin I-beam chassis and an air-ride suspension.  It has an industrial-rated HVAC and chiller system.  OSV and Philips plan to have this vehicle certified and available for sale in the first quarter of calendar 2007.

In related news, the companies also announced that it has added the Siemens Espree 1.5 T Open-Bore Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit to its line of mobile medical vehicles. The companies plan to have this vehicle certified and available for sale in the first quarter of calendar 2007.
