Pacsgear debuts affordable, distributable MediaWriter
Pacsgear debuted its new PACSGEAR MediaWriter, an affordable, distributed CD/DVD burning solution last week at SIIM 2007 in Providence, R.I. The system writes DICOM files to portable media with one click, connecting documents and multimedia to PACS and electronic health records. “Everyone has paper to get rid of and CDs and film to import,” said Thomas Pickard, vice president of marketing and business development. Many facilities also are shifting away from a centralized view of CD burning where all departments send to one place for burning. This solution lets users build a CD burner at the point of care so every specialty can have its own unit. An inkjet printer inside the device writes a label, which ensures accurate data identification. This will serve as the beginning of a portable, multimedia electronic health record, said Pickard.
