DATACORP, a minority-owned firm that delivers consulting and network integration services to mid-market companies in Florida, announced that it has partnered with Perimeter eSecurity to provide mission critical, 24 X 7 security and disaster recovery services, supplementing its current consulting and integration services. Perimeter provides DATACORP with the ability to provide on demand security and disaster recovery services for DATACORP customers. “Partnering with Perimeter has enabled us to compete at a different level,” said Hugo G. Perez, managing director, DATACORP. “It has transformed us from a standard 8 X 5 VAR to a 24 X 7 full service network integration, security, and business continuity solutions provider. This partnership ties us much more closely to our clients and enables us to compete head-to-head with larger firms such as IBM Global Services and EDS. Because we are flexible with our service offerings and our services are much more affordable, we can provide the appropriate services at the pace that our clients require.” Perimeter’s partner program is designed to help organizations like DATACORP plug into over 50 on demand security services with no CAPEX investment requirement. This program provides Perimeter partners with an easy to implement, comprehensive suite of on demand security and disaster recovery services to offer to their clients as a new way of increasing monthly recurring revenue, customer entanglement, and profitability.

Thomson Micromedex and A.D.A.M., a provider of consumer health information, announced today that the companies have formed an alliance to provide consumer-oriented health, drug, and lab information to hospitals, health plans, health web portals, and pharmaceutical companies.

The companies will co-develop new integrated solutions that combine A.D.A.M.’s health information with evidence-based drug information from Thomson to help patients better understand medical conditions and treatments. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Recent statistics reveal that more than 60 percent of consumers have searched for information to help make treatment decisions in the last year, and about one-third of them indicate this information has affected either their treatment decisions or choice of facility,” said Jay Katzen, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Thomson. “By combining A.D.A.M.’s suite of multimedia health information and health risk assessments with authoritative drug information and treatment option tools from Thomson, we are providing healthcare organizations with resources to improve the quality and delivery of educational information that consumers rely on to proactively manage their care.” To be available in Q1, the health education information resource will feature a comprehensive illustrated health and drug encyclopedias, a drug interaction checker, personalized health risk assessment tools, and interactive treatment option tools. Healthcare organizations can integrate these solutions with web portals and hospital information systems and customize them to reflect their unique brand identity, according to the companies.
