Pegasus reveals new tool for 3D volumetric encoding
Pegasus Imaging Corp. highlighted at RSNA 2006 its newly released JPEG 2000 Part 2 implementation for 3D volumetric encoding, within the PICTools MedX Software Development Kit (SDK).

Pegasus Imaging’s JPEG 2000 Part 2 - 3D slices volumetric encoding supports 24-bit RGB and 8-16 bit grayscale medical images. Software developers may compress and decompress images using JPEG 2000 Part 2 - 3D volumetric encoding that is used in the DICOM standard in the medical imaging industry.  The implementation supports both Lossy and Lossless modes.  It supports both JPEG 2000 raw codestream format and the JPEG 2000 JPX format, Pegasus said.
