Philips debuts decision support technology
Philips Healthcare has rolled out new technology able to separate fetal and maternal pulses.

Called SmartPulse, the technology has been in use overseas since May 2010. The North Andover, Mass.-based company said Smart Pulse technology is built into its Toco MP transducer, and is used for automatically detecting situations where maternal pulse may be be confused with the fetal heart rate without the need to apply additional electrodes or sensors.
