Philips extends functionality of SpeechMagic for increased reporting workflow
Philips Medical Systems has enhanced its speech recognition technology, SpeechMagic, which is installed in more than 7,000 sites worldwide. The added functionality is aimed at increasing the choice of reporting-workflows available in hospital-wide speech recognition scenarios.

Philips will showcase the extended functionality for front-end speech recognition, as well as Island Mode for increased mobility, at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual meeting, Feb. 13 - 17, in Dallas.

Island Mode allows physicians to access SpeechMagic outside of the central network, for example on a laptop or tablet PC. Physicians can finalize reports directly on their mobile client anytime, anywhere. Alternatively, they can forward automatically generated text to a medical transcriptionist over their preferred network (LAN, WAN, Internet), Philips said.
