Philips launches dual-axis rotational coronary angiography technology at ESC
Philips Healthcare unveiled its XperSwing dual-axis rotational functionality for coronary angiography at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) congress this week in Munich, Germany.

The technology allows a reduction in the number of x-ray runs, total radiation exposure and contrast medium dose, according to the company.

XperSwing's automated C-arm operates on two axes simultaneously, enabling it to swing in a 3D-arc around the patient to capture coronary images in fewer runs, Philips said.

The company said it plans to incorporate its XperSwing functionality in a future release of its FD systems, and is scheduled to be available in spring 2009.
