Philips showcases new technologies at TCT
Philips Medical systems is displaying and demonstrating a range of technologies and information systems for cardiac interventional care at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference this week in Washington, D.C.
Demonstrating compatibility announced this past March, Philips is displaying Volcano’s s5i intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) system in its booth. Philips is presenting tools to enhance percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) technique, including its latest version of StentBoost (including both lumen and stent views), as well as Volcano’s integrated IVUS. IVUS provides detailed and accurate measurements of lumen and vessel size, plaque area and volume, the company said.
Philips is also demonstrating a new Xper system release that features the new Xper table optimized for hybrid procedures involving both interventionalists and cardiothoracic surgeons. This introduction also marks the production release of Philips CT TrueView. The system allows direct importation of CT angiography (CTA) from Philips Extended Brilliance Workspace, into the Philips Xper cath lab.
The firm will hold live demonstrations, conducted by John Carroll, MD, of its Live 3D Transesophageal Echo (TEE) application on Wednesday. Carroll is chief of cardiology and director of the Cardiac and Vascular Center at the University of Colorado Hospital, which helped develop the technology.
Phillips said it will also highlight its Xcelera R2 cardiovascular information management system. The application provides a scalable central workspace for nearly all imaging modalities used in cardiology and bridges the clinical information gap between diagnostic cardiology, invasive cardiology and electrocardiography management, the company said.
