Philips SpeechMagic integrated in Elseviers RadConsult
Royal Philips Electronics and Elsevier announced at RSNA 2007 last month in Chicago that the integration of Philips speech recognition platform SpeechMagic with Elsevier’s new RadConsult radiology diagnostic reference system. The company also announced the integration of SpeechMagic and 3M Health Information Systems document creation suite.
   
The integration with Elsevier allow customers and the partners of both parties to use industrial grade speech recognition with access to radiological information to assist them in increasing productivity and reducing medical errors during review and diagnosis of patient cases. “Clinical knowledge is estimated to double every eighteen months,” said Marcel Wassink, CEO of Philips Speech Recognition Systems. RadConsult improves the diagnostic efficiency of the radiologist. Radiology images and differential diagnosis content are delivered through an easy-to-use website and organized around the radiologist’s workflow. This integration can enhance RIS benefits by giving radiologists access to information at the reading room workstation.
   
The 3M integration provides 3M customers with medical reporting documentation solutions. 3M customers will be provided with front-end and backend speech recognition, designed to significantly reduce document turnaround time and transcription costs, while leveraging 3M’s voice management system, flexible document creation tools and automated document distribution solutions.
