Medical image system and radiology informatics developer RADinfo Systems has filed for a new U.S. patent covering an aspect of the Dulles, Va.-based company's DICOMmail application, which enables sending medical images through email.

According to Dr. Chen-Tai Ma, CEO and president of the firm, the technology will permit the transmission of DICOM images via existing email systems. RADinfo Systems said that possible applications for the product include outside consultation for interpretation of DICOM images.
