RSNA 2011 attendance nudges up 2%
Attendance for the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 97th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting (RSNA 2011) was up 2 percent from last year, with a total attendance of 59,097.

RSNA 2011, held in Chicago’s McCormick Place Nov. 27 to Dec. 2, featured lectures from prominent figures in healthcare, continuing medical education and scientific presentations for radiology professionals and the launch of new healthcare technologies. This year’s theme was “Celebrate the Image.”

Breaking down the numbers by attendee category, RSNA member attendance was up more than 4 percent from 2010 and radiologist attendance broke a record at 16,272. Other record breaking groups include non-exhibitor attendees at 36,671, international professionals at 9,642, RSNA member residents at 3,624, and medical physicists at 1,328.

There were 681 technical exhibits on display and RSNA 2011 featured a 5 percent increase in exhibitor attendance.

A first for the conference was the addition of a virtual meeting for remote registrants and onsite attendees. More than 3,400 registrants were able to visit the online RSNA services area and technical exhibits throughout the week of RSNA 2011.

RSNA’s 98th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting, “RSNA 2012 – Patients First,” will take place Nov. 25 to 30, 2012, in Chicago.
