RSNA: GE expands ultrasound features, apps
GE Healthcare unveiled a series of applications for Logiq E9 Ultrasound at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago earlier this month. The company also highlighted enhanced features for its Logiq P6 and Voluson E8 architecture enhancement, as well as launched Venue 40.

The Logiq E9 general imaging ultrasound system Breakthrough 2010 offers expanded capabilities with seven new transducers covering cardiac, vascular and pediatric applications. Vascular enhancements in this release include Auto intima media thickness and cardiac tools include Q-Analysis, Tissue Velocity Imaging, CW, ECG, Color M-Mode and more.

New features of the Logiq P6 general imaging system include enhancements for image quality, workflow and sonographer comfort. Continuing the tradition of migrating feature sets throughout the GE ultrasound portfolio, this system now benefits from image optimization algorithms that provide improved 2D image quality. Real-time 4D has also been optimized to an improved performance level. Other enhancements include: new transducers, a new hard drive, expanded reporting packages and a 17-inch monitor.

At RSNA 2009, GE also launched the new Venue miniaturized ultrasound product line. The Venue 40 is the first new product validated under GE’s healthymagination initiative.

GE showed Voluson E8 Breakthrough 2009 with new architecture enhancement with Dynamic Rendering Engine which helps provide 3D rendering. Voluson E8 also delivers improvements in fetal cardiac, volume contrast imaging with OmniView and Scan Assistant for quality assurance.

Finally, the company also unveiled features for practices of all sizes for the ViewPoint Ultrasound Reporting and Image Management solution. Highlights include updates in vascular reporting as well as new thyroid reporting. Another new feature is Cluster Server Support, which enables users to run two separate servers at the same time. The system also incorporates a new third-party interface to HIS/RIS and PACS. The will help ensure raw data compatibility between ViewPoint and Logiq E9 and Logiq 9 for image and volume post processing with the Logiqworks plug-in.
