RSNA: Optoacoustics unveils new MRI mic
Optoacoustics (Booth 1202) is introducing its new dual-channel optical microphone for functional MRI (fMRI) environments, the FOMRI-III, at the 2009 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting in Chicago this month.

The FOMRI-III features four selectable noise reduction modes (up to 40dB) that are designed for use with MRI and is integrated with Optoacoustics’ OptiMRI software. It also introduces the capability to synchronize speech in real time with transistor-transistor logic (TTL) signal outputs, according to the Tel Aviv, Israel-based company.

A built-in console speaker, re-programmable digital signal processor and choice of signal interfaces allows users to monitor filtered speech while recording to a PC, flash disk or IP-network connection, Optoacoustics said.
