SAIC scores $53M military EHR deal
The Department of Defense has awarded Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) a contract to provide IT services and EHR systems support to the Tricare Management Activity Military Health System (MHS).

The contract has a one-year base period of performance, three one-year options and a total value of $53 million if all options are exercised, according to the McLean, Va.-based company.

Under the contract, SAIC will provide IT services to improve the current EHR by addressing technical and functional EHR challenges. The services include fixes to legacy systems and architecture so that the EHR will be more reliable, stable, user-friendly and will perform with adequate speed, SAIC stated.

MHS manages the Tricare healthcare program for more than nine million active duty personnel, National Guard and Reserve, retired service members, their families and beneficiaries.
