SCAR reveals 2006 Resident Scholarship winners for suggesting Next Killer App
The Society for Computer Applications in Radiology has announced the recipients of the inaugural 2006 Resident Scholarship Awards: Richard J. Bruce, MD, resident in the Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics; and Donald E. Decker, MD, resident in the Department of Radiology, MSU/GRMERC (Michigan State University/Grand Rapids Medical Education & Research Center).
The organization said that two dozen applicants wrote essays on "The Next Killer App: What is the Biggest Development on the Horizon for Radiology Informatics?" and were judged by a panel of SCAR experts.
"We are pleased to have achieved such a high level of interest and participation in the first year that we offered the scholarship," said Barton ("Char") Branstetter, MD, chair of the SCAR Education Committee. "Twenty-four submissions were reviewed by the Education Committee, and we had a very difficult time selecting the top two. The membership of SCAR is enthusiastic about resident participation, and all residents will find a welcoming environment at the meeting."
The 2006 Residents Scholarships are jointly sponsored by SCAR and Siemens Display Technologies.
