Sectra gets FDA OK for 3D visualization package
Swedish IT and mammography vendor Sectra has just received FDA approval for its three dimensional (3D) visualization package.

The application, which is completely integrated with Sectra's PACS, provides physicians with a visualization tool to interpret large stacks of images.

According to Sectra, customers will get access to a 3D visualization tool integrated into the clinical workflow that does not limit them to specific workstations. The application provides 3D visualization of images that can be difficult to interpret in 2D, such as the immense number of images produced by multislice CT (computed tomography) scanners.

Sectra is showcasing the 3D application this week at the 2004 Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) symposium in Vancouver.
