Shimadzu, Fuji and Carestream lead mobile DR rankings from KLAS

The mobile DR market is dominated by niche x-ray vendors, with Shimadzu leading the way overall in performance rankings, according to Orem, Utah-based research firm KLAS.

For the recently published report, “DR Mobile 2014: Loyalty Tested,” KLAS surveyed more than 180 providers. Following Shimadzu in the overall performance rankings was Fujifilm, Carestream and Canon. Providers also weighed in on Philips, GE and Siemens.

Fujifilm, the first to market a smaller pediatric detector, is the leading mobile DR vendor for pediatric imaging, according to the report’s executive summary. Fujifilm also had the highest provider loyalty score, with 94 percent of customers saying they would chose the company again if looking for a new unit.

Carestream, Fujifilm and Shimadzu all scored highly when providers were asked about integrating mobile units with hospital Wi-Fi networks. GE customers reported some Wi-Fi problems, though the GE unit was praised for its small footprint, according to KLAS.
