Siemens creates new division, reshuffles leadership
Siemens Medical Solutions has announced the creation of a new division, named Image and Knowledge Management. The new entity combines three existing businesses — syngo multi-modality imaging software platform, RIS/PACS, and computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) — and incubates a new business in the area of knowledge-based clinical decision support. The new division will be led by Ajit Singh, PhD, who is transferring from his role as president of the company’s Oncology Care Systems (OCS) division. Succeeding Singh as president of Siemens OCS will be Holger Schmidt, formerly the president of Siemens Special Systems division. Siemens also announced the launch of a three new regional support centers (RSCs) operating in the United States, Europe, and Asia, which serve as knowledge hubs for Siemens customer support engineers. The European and U.S. site will be operational on Oct. 3, with the opening of the Asia/Pacific RSC site planned for next year.
