Siemens Medical Solutions, Rhön-Klinikum and the Fraunhofer-Institut für Software und Systemtechnik (ISST), have partnered to create an electronic case file (eFA) platform in terms of cross-facility and cross-sector data exchange in the healthcare system.

In December, Siemens said it will start a pilot project on the eFA, and the two clinic chains will exchange data.

In the next step for the eFA, Fraunhofer ISST said the project will be realized “as a joint initiative of the entire inpatient sector, with the implementation of the specifications being centrally coordinated. In this process the specifications will be enhanced continuously and – as has been done in the past –coordinated with other stakeholders.”
