Siemens unveils new digital radiography system
Siemens Healthcare introduced its Ysio digital radiography system at the 2008 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference in Chicago earlier this month.

The recently FDA-cleared Ysio combines integrated and wireless mobile detector technology into one solution to support clinical demands no matter of imaging volume, protocols or patient profiles. Ysio increases daily patient throughput with features geared toward shorter exam times, said Siemens. The system’s wireless detector handles like a cassette and can be removed from the table and placed directly underneath or next to the patient for exposures. Ysio is available in a variety of configurations based on customer needs: as a wall stand with an integrated detector, a wall stand and table system with a wireless detector or as a mixed detector solution.

Ysio serves as an integrated command center where users can control their workflow from registration to image data management with features like more than 500 automated system positions; power-assisted movements; and a table design for system utilization. The system offers more than 500 preset organ programs, which moves the x-ray tube into position with the push of a button on the wireless remote. The interactive color touch screen supports access to technical factors and displays recognizable icons for accuracy and access to a comprehensive range of options for adjustment. Ysio offers a 660-lb. table weight capacity and 21-in. table height.
