SIIM: Siemens showcases imaging IT portfolio
Siemens Healthcare demonstrated the latest developments to its radiology, cardiology and image-processing portfolio at the 2009 Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) meeting in Charlotte, N.C.

The company highlighted its syngo Suite, a Web-enabled RIS and PACS with advanced visualization post-processing capabilities, computer-aided detection (CAD) applications, and embedded speech recognition. It also exhibited new enhancements to its syngo Workflow multi-entity RIS solution and the newest portal available, syngo Portal Executive, a Web-based solution that can monitor and analyze over 40 key performance indicators (KPIs) of the operational performance of a department, according to the company.

Siemens has updated its syngo Portal Radiologist with new tools that provide radiologists focused access to important patient information in one application window.In addition, syngo Workflow's embedded dictation tool, syngo Voice, has been updated to include context sensitive shortcuts.

The new version of syngo Imaging V35 (PACS) is now available, featuring improvements in scalability and performance as well as functions for patient parking and demos. Version 35 also offers a combination of CAD and advanced imaging solutions directly visible at the PACS viewing workstation.

Additionally, the company showcased its syngo Dynamics (Cardio PACS) version 8.0, which is still under development and not commercially available. Cardio PACS now includes a tool designed for administrative reporting of KPIs. A new algorithm for Web distribution also provides significant improvements in Web access to cine-clips.
