Sonora Medical Systems, a supplier of after-market products, training, repair and support services and test equipment to the medical imaging market, has released its new ultrasound tissue phantom, the Optimal.

The Longmont, Colo.-based company said new features include:

• An insertion port for transesophageal (TE) probes that allows the image testing of the probe in its natural scanning position;
• Probe troughs are included on the Optimal, which allows scanning of curved endocavitary probes without placing stress on the probe shaft; and
• Tissue phantoms are a component of the quality assurance program.  

The Optimal also carries the CE mark for sales to the European Union.
