SonoSite demonstrates hand-carried ultrasound units
SonoSite showcased its full line of portable ultrasound systems at this week’s American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2006 in Chicago, including the MicroMaxx system that weights less than 8 pounds. Also on display was the 7.5 pounds. TITAN; nearly 5 pounds. SonoSite 180PLUS; and 3 pounder iLook – for visual guidance for performance of vascular access procedures and for visual imaging of the chest and abdomen during physical exams.

The company also highlighted the results of a recent study performed by John Postley, MD, of the New York Physicians Group which demonstrated that vascular ultrasound screening can be a more effective option in determining risk stratification for heart attack compared to the Framingham Risk Score method. The study’s CIMT measurements were performed using the TITAN system and SonoCalc IMT automated edge detection software.
