SonoSite says it will fall short of July estimates
SonoSite Inc. this week warned investors that third-quarter results may not meet Wall Street expectations.

The hand-held ultrasound device company estimates third-quarter revenues will be approximately $20 million, compared with $18.5 million in the third quarter of 2002. SonoSite also expects to post a net loss between $300,000 and $500,000, compared with a net loss of $2.4 million in the year-ago quarter.

The company cited "lower-than-expected" U.S. government orders and a "sales force transition in the visual procedures markets." The market factors totaled approximately $1.7 million in U.S. revenues. SonoSite added that it also "experienced a delay in the receipt of an expected international order of approximately $1.5 million."

SonoSite is scheduled to release its third-quarter numbers on Oct. 30.
