Study links fat distribution to cardiovascular disease
Fat distribution is an important indicator of risk of cardiovascular disease, according to a study presented at the recent 27th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research.

The study, that utilized the GE Healthcare Lunar Prodigy bone density system, showed that excessive fat distribution in the waist rather than the hip is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease. GE Lunar Prodigy's body composition software made possible the assessment of the ratio of fat percentage in the waist versus the hip.
