Fischer Imaging Corp. has named Jasjit Suri, PhD, to the newly created position of senior director of applied research and development.
Suri's role at Fischer is to develop and apply new technologies and to improve existing products to enable the detection of breast cancer at the earliest possible stage. He will lead a joint effort with Philips Medical Systems, under a grant from the National Cancer Institute, to study the feasibility of an integrated ultrasound and digital mammography system.
Before joining Fischer, he served as director and senior research scientist in the Biomedical Engineering Division of Jebra Wellness and Technology Inc. At the same time he served as senior research scientist/associate in the department of biomedical engineering at Case Western Reserve University.
Suri also was with Philips Medical Systems as principal scientist and lead researcher in computer vision, graphics and image processing.
