Swissray displays dual detector products
Dec. 6 – Despite a back-of-the-hall location at the 93rd scientific assembly and annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago last week, Swissray International enjoyed brisk traffic from those interested in its new dual-detector DR line of products incorporating portable x-ray detector technology for greater positioning flexibility and advanced applications. Although the company’s main strategy remains single detector, Christoph Knecht, marketing communication manager, said that half of U.S. hospitals want dual detector equipment.

The ddRPortable Detector is Swissray’s latest addition to its DR portfolio. The lightweight portable detector is designed for the demanding imaging requirements of a busy emergency department. A more efficient alternative to CR, the system can be combined with Swissray’s ddRFormula Plus or the ddRCombi Series.

Swissray also re-introduced its ddRCompact—a space-efficient and multifunctional direct digital DR system. It features a C-arm design with the x-ray tube always centered to the detector for fast, precise and convenient patient positioning. It also incorporates the new proprietary HD-3000 Solid State detector for superb image quality at low radiation dose. By combining the newest advancements in several areas of imaging physics research with the HD-3000, the latest generation of digital detector technology, the ddRCompact delivers superior performance, Knecht said. The system also offers the largest active imaging areas on the market with its 17-inch square format, he added.

Swissray also showcased its eXpert 3000, a control desk that streamlines workflow by automating every aspect of the radiographic procedure except patient positioning and exposure. Patient demographic data can be transferred directly from RIS/HIS via DICOM worklist while all exposure and image processing parameters can be chosen with a few touchscreen selections.
