Tempur-Pedic Medical Inc. and IES Patient Comfort System Inc. have inked a product development and distribution deal through which the companies will jointly develop and manufacture a line of medical imaging table pads, knee wedges and positioning cushions for exclusive distribution by IES Patient Comfort System Inc.

The IES Patient Comfort System is a comprehensive line of Tempur-Med products that are specifically designed to enhance MRI, CT and PET scans and other types of imaging. The IES Patient Comfort System mattress pads and wedges, developed in conjunction with Tempur-Pedic Medical, are intended to be a replacement to original equipment pads, which quickly become worn out and lose their comfort factor, the companies said.

IES Patient Comfort System pads will help imaging centers and hospitals manage the pressure-related forces that can cause pain and discomfort during imaging procedures – making it easier for the patient to lie still, creating clearer images, and decreasing scan times. By incorporating TEMPUR material into the pads, the pressure is redistributed away from weight-bearing contact points, reducing the areas of peak pressure on the body, the company said.
