Terrorism unease quashes major imaging meeting

Citing concerns over attendee safety, the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (ESTI) has postponed its 2016 annual scientific meeting to an alternate date and time yet to be named.

The event had been scheduled for May 25 to 28 in Istanbul.

The organization cited the Jan. 12 suicide bombing that killed 11 foreigners visiting Turkey as the cause for the caution.

“This decision was in no way easy and has been taken with deep regrets,” writes prof. Nevzat Karabulut, president of ESTI in a public announcement.
