Toshiba introduces new bone subtraction software for neurological CT angiography
Toshiba America Medical Systems Inc. has introduced a new advanced software package for its Aquilion CT systems that is able to do automated bone subtraction in evaluation of patients exhibiting symptoms of neurological disorders.

The system, known as SURESubtraction technology, automates the bone subtraction process, reducing exam time by as much as 90 percent. The new application is an option for Toshiba’s 8-, 16-, 32- and 64-slice CT systems. Given the software’s ability to detect and successfully subtract bone from images, it offers a number of clinical applications, including: cerebral aneurysms; patients with ischemic disease; cases with stenosis or occlusion; patients with a clip or coil; patients with calcification; patients with hypervascular tumor; and patients scanned from neck to head.

The company said that the application will be clinically evaluated at a number of Toshiba’s luminary sites before it’s made available to customers.
