University of Rochester PACS conference draws 300
The Department of Radiology at the University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and Dentistry held its fourth Annual PACS Conference in San Antonio, Texas on March 10-13.
According to Conference Director Edward M. Smith, ScD, attendance was just less than 300 with attendees representing 36 states, three provinces of Canada, Belgium, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, South Korea and Italy.
"Of the institutions attending that reported the current status of PACS implementation, 33 percent have PACS installed, 18 percent were in the process of changing PACS vendors and 49 percent were looking for their first PACS vendor," said Smith. Attendees included administrators, industrial representatives, information technology personnel, PACS administrators, physicians and technologists.
Forty-two vendors, demonstrating PACS, storage, monitors, virtual imaging, RIS, speech recognition, digital mammography and CAD, and related devices, provided hands-on experience with products and services for attendees.
