Varian introduces afterloaders for brachytherapy delivery
Varian Medical Systems is introducing the iX range of afterloaders that simplify high-dose rate brachytherapy delivery and optimize treatment of cancer patients. The afterloaders will be introduced at the 2007 American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology conference in Los Angeles on Oct. 29.

According to the Palo Alto, Calif.-based Varian the new range of iX afterloaders uses Microsoft Windows-based control software, common to both the VariSource iX and GammaMedplus iX afterloaders, which are computer-controlled devices used for delivering the radiation sources.

Varian also said that the software integrates with its BrachyVision treatment planning system.
