Radiation therapy device and application provider Varian Medical Systems has licensed a medical imaging software development toolkit from Merge Healthcare’s Toronto-based Cedara Software division. The product, Cedara MergeCom-3 DICOM toolkit, will allow the Palo Alto, Calif.-based Varian to accelerate the development of DICOM interfaces for its products, Merge said.

The software development kit provides simple, high-level abstraction of DICOM messaging details, according to Merge. In addition, it features comprehensive sample applications that provide a straightforward demonstration of programming concepts for original equipment manufacturers, the company said.
