Varian Medical, ASRT Foundation award $95,000 in scholarships
Nineteen students have been selected to each receive a $5,000 Varian Radiation Therapy scholarship through the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Education and Research Foundation and the Varian Radiation Therapy Student Scholarship program.

Varian Medical said the scholarships were awarded to outstanding students enrolled in entry-level radiation therapy programs.

The scholarship program was created in honor of Eileen McCullough, BHS, RT, FASRT, who was instrumental in developing formalized education programs in radiation therapy in the United States, according to Palo Alto-based Varian Medical.

“Varian is pleased to have been able to help nearly 70 students become professional radiation therapists,” said Tim Guertin, CEO of Varian Medical Systems. “Together we share a mission to beat cancer, and well educated, trained caregivers are on the front line in this endeavor.”
