Varian Medical Systems to introduce RapidArc at ASTRO 2007
Varian Medical Systems will unveil RapidArc, a radiotherapy technology, at the 2007 meeting of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) in Los Angeles later this week.

According to the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company, RapidArc will enable clinicians to program a Varian linear accelerator to deliver more precise forms of intensity-modulated radiation therapy in a single rotation of the treatment machine around the patient.

Pending FDA 510(k) clearance, RapidArc is scheduled to be available for radiation clinics in the United States in spring 2008, Varian Medical said.
