VirtualScopics co-chairs medical imaging workshop
Edward Ashton, MD, chief scientific officer of VirtualScopics, will co-chair key discussions at the Drug Information Association (DIA) medical imaging workshop held this week in Adelphi, Md.

The workshop, “Medical Imaging Stakeholders Call for Action:  Harmonization of Imaging Review Charters and Integration of Imaging in Therapeutic Development,” will focus on the management of imaging sites for interfacing in clinical trials. 

The FDA, pharmaceutical industry and clinical research organizations will collaborate for regulatory guidance by standardizing and harmonizing best practices for medical imaging in clinical trials and drug development at the workshop, according to VirtualScopics.

In addition, Saara Totterman, MD, the company’s chief medical officer; Jose Tamez-Pena, MD, chief technical officer; and Toni Handzel, director of quality and regulatory, will participate in group sessions related to medical imaging review practices, statistical analysis plans and imaging review charters for image data in clinical trials, according to the Rochester, N.Y.-based VirtualScopics.
