WaveMark, Lumedx partner to integrated RFID-enabled solution
WaveMark, a provider of inventory management solutions for medical products, will integrate its clinical inventory management solution (CIMS) with Lumedx’ Apollo cardiovascular information system (CVIS) for charge capture and patient billing.

The Littleton, Mass.-based WaveMark said its CIMS leverages RFID to provide hospitals with real-time product visibility to optimize inventory levels, track product usage and manage expirations and recalls for medical devices, such as stents and pacemakers. WaveMark users also will achieve billing accuracy through an interface to the Lumedx Apollo CVIS to generate patient charges for items used at the point of care.

The Oakland, Calif.-based Lumedx said its Apollo CVIS tracks product usage for patient events and procedures to enable patient billing. In addition, by combining device usage with procedural data, the Apollo system provides a look at clinical outcomes with various therapeutic devices, supporting quality improvement initiatives.

The companies said that their integration provides a supply chain solution, enabling hospitals to reduce losses and improve charge capture of specialty products.
