Western Minnesota to gain more imaging services
Affiliated Community Medical Centers (ACMC) and Rice Memorial Hospital, both located in Willmar, Minn., have signed a joint venture agreement to provide imaging and cancer center services to western and southwestern regions of Minnesota, beginning Jan. 1, 2008.

With the formation of Willmar Medical Services, the Willmar Surgery Center will remain at its present location and imaging services will continue to be provided at both locations. Cancer services provided by ACMC and Rice will be combined and located on the Rice hospital campus to form Willmar Cancer Center, a single, comprehensive cancer treatment center.

Employees affected by departmental changes will be employed by Willmar Medical Services. The transition will occur in 2008.

ACMC, an 11-clinic network, serves six local hospitals and has over 150 physicians and mid-level practitioners and features 25 specialty departments with more than 700 support staff. Rice has 56 departments and more than 190 active and affiliate members on the Rice medical staff, employing approximately 900 people.
