The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) made available a free, online guide developed under contract by RAND, a nonprofit research organization headquartered in Santa Monica, Calif., to assist healthcare organizations with EHR implementation and use.
According to a RAND statement published Dec. 14, the guide is intended for use by healthcare organizations of all sizes to help them “anticipate, avoid and address problems that can occur when adopting and using EHRs.”
“The creators anticipate that the primary users will be those responsible for adopting EHRs, including federally designated regional extension centers, CIOs, directors of clinical informatics, EHR champions or super users, administrators, IT specialists and clinicians involved in adoption of the technology,” the statement continued.
RAND credited the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Kaiser Permanente-Colorado and the American Health Information Management Association Foundation for their assistance in creating the guide.
