Following what says was a strong end to fiscal year 2009, Agfa HealthCare is anticipating weakening sales in the first quarter of 2010 and that results for the division for the entire year will be flat.

Agfa HealthCare’s revenue for 2009 decreased by 3.7 percent compared to 2008—to €1,178 ($1.6 billion U.S.)  from €1,223 billion ($1.66 billion U.S.). However, the healthcare unit reported that its fourth quarter performance was stronger, with revenue decreasing by just a 2.8 percent margin compared to the fourth quarter of 2008.

According to Agfa HealthCare, when currency effects are taken into account, revenue actually increased by 0.3 percent in the fourth quarter. For the year, revenue growth in IT didn’t fully compensate for a market driven decline in imaging, the unit reported.
