HIMSS: CriticalKey debuts interoperability engine for hospitals
CriticalKey (Booth 2387) is releasing its KeyEngine 2.0 technology for hospitals, a platform to electronically broker orders, distribute results and insert electronic results into a referring physician’s EMR during the 2011 HIMSS convention Feb. 20 to 24 in Orlando, Fla.

The core technology has been available in clinical reference laboratories as KeyEngine 1.0. KeyEngine is an exclusive interoperability engine at a privately held clinical reference lab in the Midwest, MedStar Laboratory, according to the Oak Brook, Ill.-based company.

KeyEngine also has an embedded Master Patient Index (MPI), which allows for the cross-referencing of patient identifiers across different patient domains, CriticalKey said.
