Hospira to acquire TheraDoc, expanding infection management portfolio
Pharmaceutical and medication delivery company Hospira has acquired Salt Lake City-based TheraDoc, a clinical informatics company that develops hospital surveillance systems.

TheraDoc's products, including its Infection Control Assistant and Antibiotic Assistant, join Hospira's portfolio of medication safety and infection management products, said Lake Forest, Ill.-based Hospira.

TheraDoc's Infection Control Assistant provides infection monitoring, alerts and analysis of hospital infections, according to Hospira. The product joins Hospira's portfolio of infection management tools, including the LifeShield and Antimicrobial Clave, designed to help address potential infection-related contamination. Also, TheraDoc's Antibiotic Assistant provides point-of-care screening to arm clinicians with information about antimicrobial resistance trends, according to Hospira.

As part of the agreement, Hospira acquired additional assets related to the TheraDoc business, including the company's employees and its headquarters in Salt Lake City. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
