MEDecision, a provider of collaborative healthcare management solutions, has finalized its acquisition of HxTechnologies (HxTI), a health information exchange (HIE) company. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The deal allows MEDecision to embed HxTI's HIE technologies, particularly the iHistory HIE platform, into its Alineo collaborative healthcare management platform and Nexalign HIE service, according to the Wayne, Pa.-based MEDecision.

The company also said it will utilize iHistory intelligence to augment Alineo's analytics capabilities for more precise patient identification, gaps in care recognition and clinical summary and treatment plan development. iHistory will expand Nexalign's ability to assemble and deliver real-time clinical information--including diagnostic-quality medical images--and simplify its interoperability with other systems.

The transaction also allows MEDecision to acquire HxTI's patent on the electronic management of patient authorizations to share health information and multiple other patents pending in the field of HIE, including its invention of the record locator service.
