Medsphere releases code to improve testing of EHRs
Medsphere Systems has released Strongwind, a code for a user interface test automation framework that enables developers to create automated quality assurance scripts to test features of user interface applications.

Developed by Medsphere engineers, the tool has improved the process of testing updates and enhancements of Medsphere's OpenVista EHR, according to the Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based company.

Medsphere said that the code tests applications created with GTK+, the toolkit used by the OpenVista Clinical Information system and all GNOME applications.

Additionally, the firm said that Strongwind scripts automatically generate a human-readable log that contains the action, expected result, and a screen shot of each step, further minimizing necessary test development effort.

The testing platform is now available under the GNU General Public License, according to Medsphere.
