NEC Display launches new flat-panel monitors
NEC Display Solutions of America launched the 20-inch, 5 megapixel (MP) MultiSync MD205MG flat-panel monitor at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, Nov. 30 through Dec. 4.

MultiSync MD205MG recently received FDA 510(k) approval for use in digital mammography.

“The MD205MG provides diagnostic professionals with the advanced tools they need to accurately diagnose and consistently review detailed images,” said Stan Swiderski, product manager of medical and professional displays for NEC.

The monitor is part of the MultiSync MD Series, a family of medical-grade LCDs designed for PACS, MRI, CT and 3D applications. With a 2560 x 2048 native resolution, the MD205MG display features in-plane switching LCD technology, which offers a possible 3,061 shades of gray. It also includes a backlight sensor, DICOM calibration and a contrast ratio of 600:1. In addition, GammaComp MD software, supplied with the MD monitor system, supports different sensors for calibration. These include both external colorimeters for direct measurement at the surface and spot luminance meters for distance measurement.

NEC also announced the MultiSync MD Series high-brightness, color and grayscale flat-panel monitors at the show.

Designed for medical imaging applications, the new MultiSync MD Series includes the 21-inch, 2 MP MD212MC and the 21-inch, 3-MP MD213MC color displays – both with front sensors. The MD213MG grayscale display has a front sensor.

NEC said new UA-SFT LCD module technology offers high brightness without compromising contrast or viewing angles. Select units include built-in front sensors for stability, as well as remote assurance of DICOM conformance. The new displays feature DICOM calibration and the X-Light Pro sensor system for maintaining a consistent image; 12-bit lookup table for detailed images and grayscale; ColorComp, which reduces LCD uniformity errors and compensates for differences in color/grayscale and luminance; front or backlight sensors; medical certifications and a five-year limited warranty with overnight exchange service.

NEC also unveiled a 30-inch, 4-MPMultiSync MD304MC widescreen display, certified for radiology and emergency room environments.

With a native resolution of 2560 x 1600, the wide-gamut, widescreen LCD is wide enough to compare side-by-side patient images in portrait or landscape orientation. The display features ColorComp, which reduces LCD uniformity errors and compensates for differences in color/grayscale and luminance and backlight technology. NEC’s patented X-Light Pro backlight system for DICOM GSDF conformance and self-correcting consistent brightness over the useful life of the monitor also are included.

The MD304MC incorporates in-plane switching LCD technology. The MD304MC also includes GammaComp MD software to ensure consistent image quality. Working in conjunction with X-Light technology, the sensor also supports standalone calibration and monitor matching, while enhancing calibration and white-point matching for DICOM GSDF conformance. Optionally, GammaComp MD Administrator provides control and management of multiple display systems, NEC said.
