Nuance to acquire Vocada
Nuance Communications, a supplier of speech solutions, has signed an agreement to acquire the Dallas-based Vocada, a provider of critical test result management services.

The purchase follows Nuance’s recent acquisition of the medical documentation and communications company, Commissure, on Oct. 2.

According to the Burlington, Mass.-based Nuance, Vocada’s Veriphy, delivered through a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, helps hospital diagnostic departments by bringing efficiency and verification to the communication process surrounding critical test results.

Nuance said that the transaction will allow it to broaden the capabilities of its Dictaphone Healthcare services by extending the company’s domain within diagnostic specialties (including radiology, lab, pathology and cardiology), accelerate revenue growth through SaaS offerings and help healthcare providers comply with industry time mandates in which critical test results are identified, documented and communicated.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
